Crandall Art Gallery Features "Collective Views," a Group Exhibition
April 05, 2010
The recent work of Scott Betz, Sany Brunvand, Alison Denyer, Justin Diggle, Joy Flynn, Cynthia Huff, John Lustig, John O'Connell, Dawn Peterson, and K Stevenson will be on display in Mount Union College's Crandall Art Gallery from November 1 through December 12.
"As artists we are constantly being influenced by our surroundings, be they physical, social or psychological," said Alison Denyer, featured artist and Curator at Savannah College of Art and Design.
"Although a direct product of our creative endeavors, any artwork takes on, to an extent, the properties of the individual artist's environment and influences be it consciously or subconsciously."
In pulling this exhibition together, Denyer has invited quite a diverse group of artist to the show. Some of the chosen artists are from the same geographical area or come from similar backgrounds, yet no two works are alike.
"In curating this show, my intention is to encourage further thought and discussion on the origins and influences of the creative thought process," said Denyer.
Crandall Art Gallery is located within Cope Music Hall, on the corner of Simpson Street and Union Avenue. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 - 6 p.m.
