David Kuhlke Honored During Greek Awards
April 12, 2012
ALLIANCE, Ohio — David Kuhlke, associate professor of economics, accounting and business administration and chapter advisor for Alpha Delta Pi and Alpha Tau Omega at the University of Mount Union, was named Advisor of the Year and Outstanding Faculty Member during the 2012 Greek Awards held Sunday, April 1.
The Advisor of the Year award recognizes a member of a chapter’s advising team who exhibits an outstanding commitment to his or her chapter and to the fraternity and sorority community as a whole.
“During my first encounter with him, he showed me how welcoming people can be,” his nominator wrote. “I had never met this person before, and we began a discussion about the stock market and money investment as if we had been friends for years … When the new curriculum changes were being made, he visited our chapter, covered all of the changes with us and even brought handouts to aid us in our understanding. He is someone that the chapter members look up to very much and he will always have a special place in our hearts.”
The Outstanding Faculty Member award is presented to one member of the Mount Union faculty, staff or administration who exhibits outstanding and continued service to the fraternity and sorority community.
“Caring, driven and motivational describes him perfectly and he always wants the best for the students he works with,” one of Kuhlke’s three nominators wrote. “He advises two chapters on campus and is an amazing professor on top of it all. He is well respected by all people who are lucky enough to work with him and is a remarkable person all around.”
Kuhlke, who has taught at Mount Union since 2001, earned a bachelor of science degree in management science from Oakland University, a Master Arts degree in finance from the University of Akron and is working on a doctorate degree in business administration from Cleveland State University. He plans to retire at the end of the academic year, following an 11-year stint at the University.
