Department of Music Presents Guest Pianist Christina Tan

The Mount Union College Department of Music presents guest pianist Christina Tan on Tuesday, January 22 in Presser Recital Hall at 8 p.m.


Christina Tan, a native of Singapore, made her national debut on television at the age of five. In 1981, concert pianist Bela Siki invited her to study at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music. She earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in music from the University of Cincinnati. In 1995, she completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Cincinnati. Tan has also earned the licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music and the Fellowship of the Trinity College, both in London.

Tan is on the faculty at the University of Akron's School of Fine and Applied Arts. In addition to appearances with orchestras in Singapore and the United States, she has performed solo and chamber recitals in Southeast Asia and the United States.

Tan will be performing works by Bach, Beethoven and Chopin. The concert is free and open to the public.
