Dining Services Opens New Coffee Bar in KHIC
January 21, 2004
Mount Union College dining services has a new addition to the campus. A "grab and go" coffee bar has been constructed in the lobby of the Kolenbrander-Harter Information Center.
The coffee bar, which opened for business at 7 a.m. on Monday, January 19, has many notable features. Students, faculty and staff are invited to enjoy coffee varieties, which include regular, decaffeinated, and a "flavor of the day." Also available are extra large muffins and bottled juices. All items are priced at a dollar. Payment methods include: the purple plus card, cash, or, for students on the meal plan, items purchased at the coffee bar can be substituted for the breakfast meal. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The director of dining services, Rod Peterson, presented the idea to provide a convenient service for students.
"The idea is to keep the services as simple as possible and then hopefully grow," said Joseph Hinton, associate director of dinning food services.
Eventually dining services hopes to incorporate fresh fruit and donuts into their sales. Future plans include the possibility that the coffee bar may be opened for extended hours and may offer special events around the time of finals.
The coffee bar is yet to be officially named. Dining services is considering holding a contest for students to submit possible names.
