October 10, 2013
Dr. Dominic J. Bagnoli Jr. recently spoke to an athletic training class at the University of Mount Union about the work he has done in the emergency room.
Dr. Bagnoli earned a Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and Doctor of Medicine degree from Wright State University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Akron General Medical Center. Originally, Bagnoli wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon but through medical school he changed his mind and became passionate about emergency medicine.
Currently, Bagnoli serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Emergency Medical Physicians (EMP), overseeing day-to-day operations of the entire company. He has led EMP to become one of the fastest growing emergency medicine organizations in the United States. He has expanded the initial scope of the business from emergency department staffing to a multi-faceted business structure encompassing a management organization that provides medical practice back office operations, a third party collections company, a medical malpractice insurance organization and several associated companies and investments that complement EMP's core business.
Bagnoli told students, “If you don’t love what you do then you end up quitting but when you are crazy in love, you keep going. It’s what you do. And that’s what I did with emergency medicine.”
He has been recognized as the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and was honored by Harvard Business Club of Northeast Ohio for outstanding entrepreneurship. In addition, EMP has been honored as Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare in the United States for the last five years.
Bagnoli is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, a Fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians and a Fellow in the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.
