Don McDonald to Present at April 14 CLP

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Don McDonald, program director of the Stark County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will present the Continued Learning Program (CLP) at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 14 at the University of Mount Union.

McDonald has served as program director for the Stark County LEPC for the past 10 years. He is a member of the state Emergency Response Commission, which oversees all LEPC’s in Ohio and is co-chair of the Training and Education Subcommittee. In addition, he serves as member of the Executive Committee for the Stark County Hazardous Materials Response Team, the Steering Committee for the Stark County Safety Council and the Emergency Health Care Planning Committee of Stark County. He is a retired Jackson Township firefighter and paramedic, having spent more than 33 years as a first responder

McDonald will present on how the LEPC works to prepare and respond to local emergency situations in the county. His presentation will include topics such as hazardous chemicals, the hazardous materials response team, hydraulic fracturing and railroad safety.

Other sessions for the month include Jim Pfander, general manager of the Akron RubberDucks, on April 21 and Jared Shive, Stark Parks marketing specialist, on April 28.

Following the presentation, the public is welcome to stay for lunch in the Kresge Dining Commons ($6.60) or B&B Café (a la carte) following the sessions.
