Dr. James Perone To Present Recital

Dr. James Perone, associate professor for Mount Union College's music department, will perform a clarinet recital on Wednesday, October 24 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall. Dr. Perone will perform works by Druschetzky, Telemann, Gaubert, D'Rivera, Niehaus, Osborne, Rozsa, and Fitelberg and will be assisted by staff pianist Kathy Reichenberger.

Perone holds a bachelor of music degree in music education from Capital University, and a master of fine arts degree in clarinet performance, a master of arts degree in music theory, and a doctorate degree in music theory from the State University of New York in Buffalo.

Before taking his position at Mount Union College in 1994, Dr. Perone was active in chamber music throughout western New York, playing clarinet in the Madera Wind Quartet and Amherst Chamber Winds.

He has published numerous books, including bio-bibliographies of Howard Hanson, Paul Simon, Carol King and Elvis Costello. His most recent work, a book titled "Songs of the Vietnam Conflict" was published in August 2001. Another work is in progress and expected to be released in 2002. His articles have appeared in journals such as ClariNetwork, The Flutist Quarterly, and Interface: The Journal of New Music Research.
