B.A., Physical Education, University of Southern Colorado
M.A., Sport Administration, University of Northern Colorado

Love of the Sport

I wanted a profession that could match my love of the sport world and teaching the next generation of sport business enthusiasts.

Proud Moments

Finishing my doctorate degree at 50 was a proud moment for me. Hopefully it will show that it’s never too late to follow your dream, and you’re never too old to head back into the classroom as a student. I also had the opportunity in my career to develop a new curriculum for middle school physical education teachers, as well as develop a character curriculum for NCAA student-athletes to use in their local schools.

Teaching Style

I want to build an atmosphere of constant engagement, passion and learning. I try to get students to transform from passive observers to active learners.

Research

My latest research has focused on the transition from high school to college of freshman student-athletes and the academic challenges some face their first year in college.

Small School Setting

The small class sizes allow for better interaction and accountability. Being able to walk across campus and know students and faculty members is something few campuses can provide. This campus is warm and friendly, which allows for a better work and teaching environment.

Preparing Students

I believe our University provides real-world experience. In sport business, our curriculum is based on giving students experiences they will face in the real world. Our students graduate with experience on their resumes that many programs do not provide, thus making them more marketable in the workplace.
