Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Events Planned at Mount Union College
May 24, 2010
Mount Union College will feature a variety of events in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Thursday, January 14
7 p.m., Mount Union College Theatre
The Grimes Theatre Group will perform “The Meeting,” a play based on a fictional meeting between Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.
The playwright, Jeff Stetson portrays what a clandestine meeting would have been like among these two influential figures. The supposed meeting takes place in a suite in the Harlem hotel in February 1965.
Differing in their views, but alike in their mutual respect, the two men discuss their approaches to the same social problems. However, within a week, Malcolm will be assassinated and in three short years, Dr. King will be martyred while crusading for freedom.
This production is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Richard Jackson, assistant dean of students and director of multicultural student affairs at email@example.com or (330) 823-2138.
