Dr. Michael Olin-Hitt to Hold Book Signing at Mount Union Bookstore

April 06, 2010

Dr. Michael Olin-Hitt, professor of English at Mount Union College will hold a book signing at the Mount Union Bookstore on Wednesday, November 28 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Olin-Hitt's book The Word of God Upon My Lips: A Christian's Journey into Prophecy is the true story of Olin-Hitt's experiences as a profound spiritual gift came upon him. Olin-Hitt's sacred experience is often called deep-trance channeling, but he discovered that before people with such a gift were known as channelerers, they were called oracles, shamans, mystics and prophets.

The book traces Olin-Hitt's struggle to understand the gift and place it in his own faith framework of the Judeo/Christian tradition. His background as a published short story writer is evident in the graceful mixture of story, sacred experience and small, accessible touches of research in Christian mysticism, the Kabbalah and biblical studies. The book is a gripping narrative of Olin-Hitt's life and the influence of his spiritual gift during a time in which his family endured the stillbirth of a son and the long process of adopting a daughter from China. The narrative provides a glimpse of a family's struggle of faith during a time of grief and the development of an unusual gift of prophetic awareness.
