Dr. Michael Olin Hitt to Hold Presentation and Book Signing at Borders
April 06, 2010
Dr. Michael Olin Hitt, professor of English at Mount Union College will be conducting a presentation and book signing at Borders on The Strip, 6751 Strip Ave., North Canton on Sunday, November 4 at 2 p.m.
Olin Hitt's book The Word of God Upon My Lips: A Christian's Journey into Prophecy is the true story of Olin Hitt's experiences as a profound spiritual gift came upon him. Olin Hitt discovers that his gift is often known as deep-trance channeling, but he discovers that before the word channeler described a person with a gift of spiritual intermediation, cultures had known such people as oracles, shamans, mystics and prophets.
The book traces Olin Hitt's struggle to understand the gift and place it in his own faith framework of the Judeo/Christian tradition. Olin Hitt carefully weaves his readings in Christian Mysticism and the Kabbalah into a stirring and heartfelt story.
His background as a published short story writer is evident in the graceful mixture of story, sacred experience and small, accessible touches of research in Christian mysticism, the Kabbalah and biblical studies. The book is a gripping narrative of Olin Hitt's life and the influence of his spiritual gift during a time in which his family endured the stillbirth of a son and the long process of adopting a daughter from China. The narrative provides a glimpse of a family's struggle of faith during a time of grief and the development of an unusual gift of prophetic awareness.
A presentation and book signing is also scheduled for Barnes and Noble bookstore on Olentangy River Road in Columbus on Tuesday, November 13 at 7 p.m. as well as a book signing at the Mount Union College bookstore on Wednesday, November 28 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
