July 30, 2012
ALLIANCE, Ohio — Dr. Santosh Saha, professor of history at the University of Mount Union, had the opportunity to attend a Social Sciences Conference held in Barcelona, Spain in June.
Saha, along with 300 attendees from around the world, participated in the four-day conference. Each had the opportunity to hear lectures on various topics including genocide, social frustrations and human rights advancements. Some attendees had the chance to present on a topic of their choosing, including Saha.
Saha chose to speak on Amartya Sens, a Nobel Prize-winning economist and the concept of human rights in India. In his lecture, Saha argued that public reasoning in the country replaces all other industrial relations methods, leading to more non-confrontational human rights advancements.
Saha said the conference was a success, noting that it was well organized and thought provoking. Not only is he planning on sharing the information he acquired with his students, but he is looking forward to the next conference as well.
