Dr. William Lane Craig Presented Carr Lecture

April 06, 2010

Dr. William Lane Craig, research professor of philosophy at Talbot School of Theology in La Mirada, CA, presented the Carr lecture on 'The end of the world, to its beginning' in the Mount Union Theatre on April 5.

Similar to the concept of intelligent design, Craig discussed his views on the creation of the universe and its components and the possibility of a divine being.

Craig stated that there has to be a beginning and end in space; beginning after the big bang theory.

Through his research in religion and philosophy, Craig has explored the exact creation of the Earth and the scientific possibility of the Earth's current condition along with the likelihood of Jesus representing the Earth's form of a divine being.

'The universe secures a divine body,' said Craig. 'And Jesus might be it.'

Carr earned a doctoral degree in philosophy at the University of Birmingham, England and a doctoral degree in theology from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universit't M'chen, Germany.

The Carr lecture, which was established by Mount Union College in 1916 by the Carr family in memory of Reverend Joseph M. Carr, D.D., carries the subject theme of 'The Mission of the Christian College to the World."
