EH 210 Students Share Joy of Children's Literature with Area Youngsters
December 2, 2003
Dr. Michael Olin-Hitt's EH 210 Children's Literature class recently presented a "Storybook Extravaganza" at the Rodman Public Library.
The event included dramatic readings with appearances by dynamic characters from children's literature.
The project incorporated service learning into the College class work, according to Olin-Hitt, associate professor of English at the College.
"I wanted to get my students in a situation where they could present children's literature to children, so that they could experience first-hand the magic children's literature has upon kindergarteners through third graders," said Olin-Hitt. "In addition, I wanted to share my students' enthusiasm for children's literature with the kids. Hopefully, it encouraged kids to explore the shelves of the library."
