Performing “Soran Bushi,” a Traditional Japanese Dance at the International Dinner
Emily Rich participated in the performance of a traditional Japanese dance known as “Soran Bushi” at the University of Mount Union's annual International Dinner on November 14, 2015. Several students from the University's Japanese Club, including Rich, performed the traditional dance together. “Soran Bushi” is a famous Japanese folk song and dance for fishermen who wish to catch many fish from the ocean in the northern part of Japan. This traditional dance was converted into modern dance with quick steps and swift movement which is the version the students performed at the dinner. Emily was the president of the Japanese Club at the time, and worked actively on many other events sponsered by the club.
