Events Planned in Honor of Mental Illness Week

The University of Mount Union’s Office of Counseling Services has planned a variety of events in honor of Mental Illness Awareness Week.
 
Saturday, October 1
Stark County’s National Alliance on Mental Illness “Moving Forward for Mental Health” Walk
To kick off Mental Illness Awareness Week, members of Mount Union’s team will walk the 2.2-mile loop at the Hoover Connection Trail in North Canton, Ohio. Members of the team will also be fundraising for the National Alliance on Mental Illness while bringing awareness to the campus and community. Tuesday, October 4
Candlelight Vigil
8:30 p.m.
Quad
In honor of National Day of Prayer for Mental Illness Recovery and Understanding, a candlelight vigil will take place on campus.
 
Wednesday, October 5
Celebration of Courage
9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Chapman Lawn
One out of four people will develop a mental illness at some stage in their life, and people with mental illness enrich our lives. Individuals are encouraged to come and share the message. There also will be 200 purple irises will be for sale to raise money for local mental illness awareness.

National Depression Screening Day
