Faculty and Staff Members Retire

ALLIANCE, Ohio ­— Seventeen members of the University of Mount Union faculty and staff announced their retirement, effective at the end of the 2012-2013 academic year.

Faculty retirees are as follows:

Dr. William Coleman, professor and co-chair of the Department of Communication, has been with the University since 1979. Coleman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech communication and a Master of Arts degree in communication from The Ohio State University, a Master of Divinity degree in religion and theology from Capital University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in rhetorical theory and criticism from The Ohio State University.

Dr. Jeffery Hahn ‘73, professor of sociology, joined the Mount Union faculty in 1975. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Union and Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Kent State University.

Dr. Ted Isue, associate professor of education, has been at Mount Union since 1995. He earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Kent State University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Akron.

Dr. John Kirchmeyer, professor of computer science and information systems and University Marshal, came to Mount Union in 1978. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carthage College and Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Northwestern University.

Louise Moses, professor of computer science and information systems and director of the media computing program, came to Mount Union in 1987. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Muskingum College and Master of Science degrees from the University of Akron and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

John M. Strefeler, professor of accounting, has been with the University since 1997. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Kent State University, Master of Accountancy and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Arizona and a Master of Science degree in taxation from Golden Gate University.

Dave Zoky, professor of accounting, joined the Mount Union faculty in 1979. After becoming a certified public accountant, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Youngstown State University.

Staff retirees are as follows:

Janet Barker, assistant to the registrar, has worked at Mount Union since 1986.

Grace Chalker, director of admission, worked at Mount Union from 1983 to 1996 and returned from 2009 to present. She earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Mount Union.

Jean Dalesandro, secretary for Academic Affairs, began working at Mount Union in 1979.

Judith Edwards, health center nurse, started at Mount Union in 1988. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and is a licensed registered nurse.

Joanne Houmard, serials librarian, began working at Mount Union in 1972. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Union and a Master of Science in Library Science degree from Case Western University.

Judy Kirchmeyer, periodicals assistant for the library, has worked at Mount Union since 1990. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University.

Peggy Molnar, receptionist for the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex, began working at Mount Union in 1982.  

Karen Moriarty ‘67, registrar, started working at Mount Union in 1993. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Union.

Suzanne Moushey, music librarian, has worked at Mount Union since 1989. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Master of Library Science degree from Kent State University.

Patty Rickard, naturalist at the Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center, has been at Mount Union since 1993. She earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry from Mount Union and did course work in plant physiology and nature interpretation at Purdue University.
