Faculty Members Receive Promotions and Tenure

ALLIANCE, Ohio — Dr. Patricia Draves, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the University of Mount Union, has announced the promotion and/or tenure of seven faculty members for the 2013-2014 Academic Year, effective in August.

Dr. Xiaoshu Han, assistant professor of economics, was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor. Han earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Beijing Foreign Studies University, a Master of Arts degree in economics from State University of New York at Binghamton and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in economics from the University of Texas.

Dr. Nicole Johnson, assistant professor of philosophy and religious studies, was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion and political science from Westminster College, a Master of Arts degree in applied theology from Wheeling Jesuit University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in practical theology from Boston University School of Theology.

Ruth Pogacnik, assistant professor of accounting, was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor. Pogacnik earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a Master of Business degree in administration from Youngstown State University.

Dr. Govind Shanadi, assistant professor of communication, was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor. Shanadi earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Georgia, a Master of Arts degree in mass communication from the University of Florida and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in communication and society from the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication.

Dr. Patricia Boehm, associate professor of music and chair of the Department of Music, was promoted to professor. Boehm earned a Bachelor of Music degree in voice and opera from Jacksonville University, a Master of Music degree in opera production from Florida State University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in music education from Kent State University.

Dr. Jerome Miskell, associate professor of music, was promoted to professor. Miskell earned a Bachelor of Music degree in music performance and music composition/theory from the University of Akron. He also earned a Master of Music degree in music composition from the University of Akron and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in musical composition from the University of South Carolina.

Dr. Ray Posey, chair of the Department of Economics, Accounting and Business Administration, was promoted to professor in residence. Posey earned a Bachelor of Science degree in materials engineering, a Master of business administration degree from Case Western Reserve University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in finance from Cleveland State University.
