Faculty Recital to be Held October 30

Dr. Patricia BoehmKathy ReichenbergerDr. James PeroneA recital featuring University of Mount Union faculty members will be held Sunday, October 30 at 3 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall. Death by Clarinet will feature clarinetist Dr. James Perone, pianist Kathy
Reichenberger and soprano Dr. Patricia Boehm.
 
They will perform works by Francis Poulenc, Franz Schubert and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
 
Perone, who serves as the Margaret Morgan Ramsey Professor of Music at Mount Union, earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Capital University. He also earned a master’s degree in clarinet performance, a master’s degree in music theory and a doctorate degree in music theory, all from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
 
A member of the Mount Union faculty since 1994, he has studied clarinet with David Hite, James Pyne, Kenneth Grant and Allen Siegel. Perone has appeared as a soloist with several symphony orchestras and concert bands including the Alliance Symphony Orchestra, the Tuscarawas Philharmonic, the Mount Union Wind Ensemble, the American Legion Band of the Tonawandas, the Cheektowaga Symphony Orchestra and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. 
 
In addition to performing, Perone is an active author. He has written more than 110 reviews for Library Journal, and is the author of over a dozen books, including The Words and Music of David Bowie, Music of the Counterculture Era and Louis Moreau Gottschalk: A bio-Bibliography.
 
Reichenberger, a lecturer piano at Mount Union, has served as a staff accompanist at the University since 1995. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Southwest Baptist University and master’s degree in piano performance from the University of Akron.
 
In addition to her active playing schedule, she coordinates the activities of all of Mount Union’s accompanying pianists. She also serves as a pianist for the Canton Symphony Chorus and accompanist for various choral ensembles and professional soloists. She has served as a staff accompanist at the University of Missouri-Columbia, William Penn College, Vennard College and Malone University.
 
Boehm, who serves is an associate professor of music and chair of the Department of Music, teaches vocal music methods and voice. She earned a bachelor’s degree in voice and opera fro Jacksonville University, a master’s degree in opera production from Florida State University and a doctorate degree in music education from Kent State University.
 
Prior to entering graduate school, she taught general music and conducted children’s choirs for 16 years in Jacksonville, Florida. While finishing her doctorate, she was assistant editor for Contributions to Music Education, which is the research journal of the Ohio Music Education Association, and she taught music education classes to non-music majors. She has served as a faculty member at Jacksonville University, the University of North Florida, the University of Akron, Malone College, Thiel College and Kent State University. Boehm is a full member of the National Association of Teacher of Singing and has sung professionally in Florida and Ohio.
