"Fast for a World Harvest" Day is November 20
April 07, 2010
The office of service learning and community service and the Black Student Union at Mount Union College will be sponsoring "Fast for a World Harvest Day," on Thursday, November 20.
Mount Union's participation in "Fast for a World Harvest Day" is in association with OxFam America, an organization dedicated to finding long-term solutions to poverty, hunger, and social injustice around the world. This year marks the 30th anniversary of this campaign.
Students, faculty and staff who choose to take part in "Fast for a World Harvest Day" will not eat during dinner. Instead, they will donate the money they would have spent on food to OxFam. Students on the meal plan can sign up to have the portion of the cost of one meal transferred to OxFam as a donation.
According to Jennifer Broome, director of service learning and community service, her office is working with Food Service to make meal plan transfers available.
A table will be set up in the campus center starting Thursday, November 13 for people to register their participation.
