Final Bidding for Theme Baskets Auction to Benefit American Cancer Society
April 07, 2010
Mount Union College academic departments and administrative offices have contributed to theme baskets that will be auctioned with proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. The gift baskets are currently on display in the Mount Union College Bookstore through April 8.
Next to each basket is a bidding sheet where bidders may place their bids. Those wishing to bid should contact Joan Cockrill at (330) 823-6566 or firstname.lastname@example.org receive a bidding number.
The basket auction is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to view the baskets and place bids. The final day for bids will be April 8, with the baskets on display in the Campus Grounds of the Hoover Price Campus Center from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Coffee and donuts will be provided during this time, and bidders can place their final bids.
Sealed bids, from those unable to attend the final bidding, will also be accepted. This will allow a bidder to submit the highest bid they are willing to make. If the sealed bid is higher than the final silent bid, the sealed bid will win the basket.
Anyone wishing to submit a sealed bid should send the bid to Joan Cockrill in the business affairs office of Mount Union College. Please have your name and the name of the basket for which you are bidding on the outside of the envelope and the amount of the bid sealed inside the envelope. These bids will not be opened until the final bidding is complete.
The baskets are available in a variety of themes, such as "House Cleaning Baskets," "Sports Basket," "Stress Reliever Basket," "College Student Basket," "Mary Kay Spa Basket," "Car Care Basket," "Chocolate Basket," "Summer Fun Basket" and many more. Also available for bidding is a 1996 NCAA signed Stagg Bowl Poster.
Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's 24-hour walking event that raises funds to fight cancer. Mount Union College has been involved for many years through sponsorship of a team of employees who volunteer to walk during the event. The Relay for Life will be held for the Alliance and surrounding areas on May 21-22 at the Marlington High School Stadium.
