Requirements for a Major in Finance

Required Finance Courses

  • Introduction to Business
  • Introduction to Microeconomics
  • Introduction to Macroeconomics
  • Elementary Statistics
  • Quantitative Methods for Business or Calculus I
  • Financial Accounting
  • Managerial Accounting
  • Management Principles
  • Marketing Principles
  • Exploring and Evaluation Life Options
  • Corporate Finance I
  • Pursuing Personal Life and Career Plans
  • Applied Strategy
  • Corporate Finance II
  • Risk Management and Insurance
  • Investment Principles(SCE)
  •  Financial Institutions Management                                               

Any one from the following courses

  • Beyond the Classroom: An International Experience
  • Beyond the Classroom: Social Entrepreneurship and/or Community Development
  • Beyond the Classroom: A Professional Bridge*

And at least one of the following courses

  • Derivatives
  • Internship in Finance
  • Health Care Finance
  • Money and Banking

*Note: Students may substitute FIN499 for this requirement
It is recommended that students majoring in Finance  also take MTH142 and ECN436 or ECN437
