- Julie Amabeli ’14
- Hometown: Alliance, Ohio
- Major: Accounting
Ruth Pogacnik, assistant professor of economics, accounting and business administration, has by far been my favorite professor at Mount Union because she took accounting topics that could easily be boring to people and made them fun and exciting! She is my advisor, so she is doing a wonderful job keeping me on track with all of my classes as well as offering me sound advice. She was also very supportive of my decision to minor in art. She’s a fantastic teacher who wants me to excel in my major and life in general.
Financial Planning Major
In today’s highly-competitive market, the demand for skilled professionals prepared for working in large financial services firms, banks, investment firms or small, privately owned businesses is greater than ever. If you seek a rewarding career and personal interaction with individual clients, make our major in financial planning the first step on your path to success.
You’ll develop an understanding of investments, taxes, estate planning, debt reduction, expenses and risk, all of which allow you to collaborate with your clients and assist them in reaching their financial goals. You’ll also be well positioned to obtain the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation upon completion of your degree as our program meets all CFP education requirements.
The major in financial planning is administered by the Department of Economics, Accounting and Business Administration, which also offers programs in accounting, economics, finance, healthcare management, human resource management, international business and economics and marketing as well as minors in business administration and entrepreneurship.
