Five Football Players Named to

Five Mount Union football players were selected to the All-America teams.

Senior wide reciever Cecil Shorts III (Cleveland/Collinwood) was selected to the first team offense, senior tight end Kyle Miller (Elida/Elida) and senior defensive end Lambert Budzinski (Canton/Massillon Jackson) are on the second team while senior linebacker Sam Kershaw (West Jefferson/West Jefferson) and senior offensive lineman Samy Guerrero (Dublin/Dublin Scioto) are honorable mention selections.

Shorts had his third-straight 1,000 receiving season as he has a team-best 63 catches for 1,106 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also has 114 yards rushing and a touchdown, 22 punt returns (16.1 yd average) with two touchdowns and nine kick returns (22.8 yd. average) and one touchdown. All of this after missing three games with an injury.

Miller has started all 14 games at tight end and is also the long snapper. He has 58 catches for 801 yards and six touchdowns.

Budzinski has started all 14 games at defensive end and is the Raiders top tackler with 101 tackles and a school single-season record 17.5 sacks.

Kershaw started 14 games at linebacker and is second on the team in tackles with 94 and Guerrero has started all 14 games on the offensive line.
