Flute Choir to Perform April 14

Stark County’s Honors Flute Choir will perform Thursday, April 14 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall on the University of Mount Union’s campus.
 
The Flute Choir, comprised of Mount Union students and area high school students, will perform works by Bach, Doppler and Bizet, among others.The students were chosen for inclusion in this select group of high school musicians by their private flute instructors and band directors.The group performs recitals regularly at Mount Union as well as in area schools, clubs, retirement homes and churches. In addition, they are regular participants in the Central Ohio Flute Festival, the Northeast Ohio Flute Festival and the Dana Flute Festival.

The choir uses the traditional C flute, as well as piccolo, alto flute and bass flute. Additional instruments such as the harp, harpsichord, cello, piano, bass clarinet, percussion and electric bass participate with the Flute Choir on a regular basis. The group is under the direction of Robin Tryon, lecturer of music at Mount Union.

The event is free and open to the public. Presser Recital Hall is located within Cope Music Hall on the corner of Union Avenue and Simpson Street on Mount Union's campus. For more information, contact the Department of Music at (330) 823-2180.
