Fraternity Life

Alpha Tau Omega, Alpha Nu Chapter
ATOLifeAlpha Tau Omega began at Virginia Military Institute in 1865 and was established in the aftermath of the Civil War. Alpha Tau Omega was the first fraternity founded upon Judeo-Christian traditions rather than Greek principles. Its purpose was “to start an organization that would help heal the wounds of the Civil War and re-unite a nation.” Since its founding in 1865, more than 196,000 men have taken advantage of the opportunity to experience brotherhood, leadership, and service that is like nothing else. Alpha Tau Omega isn’t something you pledge –it is something you do. Alpha Tau Omega is something you become. What will Alpha Tau Omega help you to become?

The Alpha Nu Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega began in 1882 and has spent over 125 years as “the house on the hill”. For the past two years, these hard-working men have earned "True Merit Honorable Mention" for being an outstanding national organization. The men involved in our chapter are involved in a variety of campus activities, including the golf team, Student Senate, Preview & Orientation Staff, Relay for Life, Interfraternity Council, GAMMA, Up ‘Til Dawn Staff, and Order of Omega. In the spring of 2010, Alpha Tau Omega was the highest fundraising team for the Alliance-area Relay For Life, including their creation and sponsorship of “Cuts for Cancer”; a haircutting event that raised $2000.
