Teaching Area(s): Music

I believe in involving the students in the process of learning, and allowing them to participate in the instruction process for their peers. My favorite part of the job is seeing the creative process of working on music throughout the semester, and seeing it improve.

Band Scholarships

About Auditions

Auditions are held each academic year during January and February for excellent musicians and students interested in a scholarship to take part in the Mount Union Band Program. Please contact Adina Haught at (330) 823-2180 for more information regarding audition dates, times, and to learn more about the process.

Love Music - Get Involved

Whether or not you have a scholarship or are a music major or minor, all Mount Union students are welcome to take part in the Band Program. It's as simple as signing up for Fall Band (our marching and fall concert band), or perhaps taking part in our spring Wind Ensemble or Concert Band. The Band Program also has a year-round jazz ensemble.

The Band Program is comprised of roughly 40% music majors, with the remainder of the students coming from other fields of study. The Band Program also has a high average GPA for students in large part because they stay busy, productive, engaged in artistic music-making and the teamwork and discipline keep them focussed.

There is something for everyone in the Mount Union Band Program. Each ensemble plays a variety of music and offers outstanding performance opportunities and wonderful teamwork and leadership experiences.

Ensembles

  • Fall Band (Marching Band and Concert Band)
  • Wind Ensemble (Spring Only)
  • Concert Band (Fall and Spring)
  • Jazz Ensemble (Fall and Spring)
  • Steele Drum Band (Fall and Spring)

**Students participating in Fall Band (Marching Band) must register for course MUS267.

For more information about the bands, please contact Dr. Otis French.
