Dr. Josh Gargac to Represent Mount Union at OSPE Conference
May 17, 2016
Dr. Josh Gargac, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Mount Union, will be presenting at the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) Annual Conference. The conference is Thursday through Saturday, June 2-4 at the Cleveland Airport Marriott.
The conference, titled “Exploring Future Frontiers,” is filled with activities designed to provide participants with continuing education, networking opportunities and an exciting look into new developments in research.
Dr. Gargac’s research focuses on the use of computational methods to evaluate bone tissue mechanics.
Through his presentation, viewers will learn: Applications of finite element analysis to evaluate bone tissue mechanics, how medical imaging techniques can be used to provide mechanical quantification of fracture callus strength during healing, how a probabilistic damage model can correlate strain to microdamage in bone following fatigue loading and how trabecular bone and the bone marrow mechanical environment can be evaluated as a poroelastic material.
It is encouraged that PEs and engineer interns, surveyors, county engineers, city engineers, ODOT & ODNR engineers, federal government engineers, college engineering faculty and college engineering students attend the conference.
