Geoff Elliott to Present at CLP

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The University of Mount Union’s Continued Learning Program (CLP) scheduled for February 17 will feature Abraham Lincoln enthusiast Geoff Elliott. Elliott will discuss “Lincoln and the Growth of the American Presidency.”
The talk will take place at 10 a.m. in the East Room of the Hoover Price Campus Center.
Elliott works as an IT professional for FedEx in Green, Ohio. He has lived in the North Canton area for most of his life. While his profession is computers, his first love is American history, especially the history of Abraham Lincoln. Elliott has been fascinated by Abraham Lincoln since early childhood. He has spent more than 40 years studying the life and legacy of our nation's 16th President. He is the author of "The Abraham Lincoln Blog," which has been linked to by organizations as diverse as The Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History and universities and public schools around the world. His Twitter account, "Mr. Lincoln," provides factoids about Lincoln and has more than 11,000 followers. Elliott has been interviewed about Lincoln by newspapers throughout the country, including the official newspaper of Congress, "The Hill." For the past few years, he has lectured about President Lincoln throughout the state of Ohio. Elliott will visit Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. for two special events this spring.
The last CLP session for this month will feature Carol Lichtenwalter, a representative of Pegasus Farms, on February 24.
Continued Learning Program Sessions offer a variety of presentations and topics to the public, as well as time for questions and discussion. Sessions are free and take place at 10 a.m. each week. Following the sessions, the public is welcome to stay for lunch at the Kresge Dinning Commons ($6.75) or the B&B Café (a la carte).
