Geology Major Careers
If studying the materials, processes and history of the Earth interests you, check out our geology major. Not only is it a fascinating field, but it’s in demand as well. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment growth of 16% is expected in the field through 2022, which is faster than the average for all occupations. This growth will be fueled by the need for energy, environmental protection and responsible land and resource management. Emerging technologies like horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing will play a role in this increased demand as will the need for alternative energy sources including wind energy, geothermal energy and solar power.
At Mount Union, our geology degree students combine a solid foundation in geological science with practical skills in the field. With this preparation, you will be prepared for graduate study as well as entry-level geology careers in a number of fields.
