September 19, 2011
The University of Mount Union’s Engineering and Business Building and the John T. Huston-Dr. John D. Brumbaugh Nature Center will be two of the sites on the 2011 Green Energy Ohio Tour (formerly the Ohio Solar Tour).
The Green Energy Ohio Tour, coordinated by Green Energy Ohio and the American Solar Energy Society, will be held Saturday, October 1 through Sunday, October 2 at various locations throughout the Stark County. Beyond solar energy, the statewide event features simultaneous tours in all corners of the state and highlights more than 250 sites with solar, wind, biomass, green design and energy-saving technologies. This event has become the largest demonstrations of installed renewable energy technologies and energy efficient building practices in the United States.
Mount Union’s Engineering and Business Building, which will feature an energy efficiency display, will be held on Sunday, October 2 from 1 – 4 p.m. The Nature Center will feature a demonstration of waste oil to biodiesel processor on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2 from 1 – 4 p.m. The Nature Center is located six miles south of Mount Union on Daniel Street, just off of Route 183.
The tour provides a unique opportunity for people to visit sites and talk with owners living and working with clean energy technologies. Aside from the University of Mount Union, other stops on the Stark County tour include Exploration Gateway, Baylor Beach Park, McKinley Presidential Library and Museum, Hoerr Residence, Stark State College, Kobilarcsik Residence, Funk Residence, Grabill Residence, Grabill Plumbing & Heating, Inc. and Albertson Residence.
