Guest Recitalists Edward Caner and Sebastian Birch to Perform October 24

Violinist extremist Edward Caner and pianist Sebastian Birch will be the guest recitalists for an evening of eclectic music on Monday, October 24 at 8 p.m. in the Presser Recital Hall of Mount Union College.
Caner, who holds master's degrees from Cleveland State University and Case Western Reserve University and received his undergraduate degree from Miami University, has been labeled by the 'Cleveland Plain Dealer' as 'one of the most versatile musicians on the planet.'
He has performed as the featured soloist for Wayne Newton, Michael Stanley, the New Barleycorn and the Yonder Mountain String Band as well as section violinist for over 25 major artists, including Smokey Robinson, Luciano Pavarotti, Natalie Cole and the Moody Blues. He has also served as section violinist with the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, Cleveland Opera and Cleveland Ballet. He has also won several composition awards for his film scores.
Caner is currently a technology commercialization and entrepreneurship consultant for Case Western Reserve University.
Birch, a native of Ohio, grew up in Italy where he began his music training before returning to Cleveland in 1985. He holds bachelor and master of music degrees from Cleveland State University and a doctor of musical arts degree in composition from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
He has composed numerous works for the theatre as well as dance scores for live instruments and electronics. He has taught at Cleveland State University, Baldwin Wallace and The Cleveland Institute of Music.
