Guest Recitalists Lisa and Heather Malyuk to Perform at Mount Union October 21

April 08, 2010

A guest recital featuring Lisa and Heather Malyuk will be held at Mount Union College on Sunday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

The Malyuk sisters are newcomers to the folk music scene, with Lisa playing the hammered dulcimer and banjo-uke and Heather performing on the guitar and fiddle. The two have quickly become celebrated musicians in northeastern Ohio as well as abroad.

Both began their musical careers when they were introduced at the age of four to the piano. Lisa then became interested in the flute and Heather in the violin. They then started lessons on the hammered dulcimer and guitar and decided to pursue a career in folk music.

In August of 2004 they recorded their first CD 'Summer's End,' and recently completed their second called, 'Stella.' They have performed at numerous events throughout northeastern Ohio, including music venues, art galleries, coffee houses, festivals and private parties.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Mount Union College Department of Music at (330) 823-2180.
