Heather Protz Exhibit in Crandall Art Gallery at Mount Union College
October 3, 2005
Heather Protz's exhibit 'Fastforward or Flashback' will be displayed October 4' 31 in the Crandall Art Gallery at Mount Union College. An artist's reception for Protz will also be held Saturday, October 8, from 4-6 p.m.
Her exhibit contains uniquely exposed photographs that depict her everyday experiences. To capture these pictures, Protz began using digital cameras with long exposures, blowing out highlights and blurring people. 'The exposures give the images a feeling of warmth, inviting you to spend time and explore the frame,' she said. She also used ink pigmentation to give the images a longer life expectancy.
Her works have been exhibited in California, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas as well as at many colleges in Ohio including Cleveland State University, Cuyahoga Community College, Kent State University Stark Branch, the University of Akron and Youngstown State University.
Protz earned a bachelor of fine arts from the University of Akron in 1989 and a master of fine arts from Ohio University in 1990. Currently, she is an instructor at the Community College of Southern Nevada teaching courses in photography.
Gallery hours are from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday and on Saturday and Sunday from 1-6 p.m.
