Required Courses

  • Western Civilization I or Western Civ. II
  • Asian Civilization
  • Historians’ Craft
  • Problems of Developing Nations
  • Senior Culminating Experience
  • Introduction to Economics

Any Two of the Following American History Sequence Courses

  • Colonial America
  • Nineteenth Century America
  • Progressive Movement in American History
  • United States Since 1945

Any One of the Following Asian History and Elements of World History Courses

  • Women in East Asia
  • East Asia to 1800
  • East Asia and the U.S. in Historical Perspective
  • Modern China
  • Southeast Asia
  • Modern Japan
  • South Asia
  • The Middle East
  • History of Africa
  • History of Southern Africa

Any One of the Following European History Courses

  • East Europe
  • The Renaissance and Reformation
  • Early Modern Europe
  • Revolutionary Europe
  • Contemporary Europe
  • Ancient Greece and Rome
  • Medieval Europe
  • Modern Russia

Elective Courses

  • Students will choose any 200 or 300 level history courses for a total of 8 hours.

Requirements for a Minor in History

  • Western Civilization I or Western Civilization II
  • Asian Civilization
  • Any 2 additional HST courses
