Homecoming 2006 To Be Held October 27-28 at Mount Union College

Mount Union College alumni and their families are invited to attend Homecoming activities Friday, October 27 and Saturday October 28. Reunions will be held for the classes of 1986, 1991, 1996 and 2001.

An Alumni Family Picnic for young alumni and their families will kick off Homecoming weekend at 6:30 p.m. on the Campus Grounds patio on Friday, October 27.

Guests can join the Rally 'Round the Raiders Bonfire in the Quad at dusk in which members of the Mount Union pep band and football team will take part. The band Big Andy and the V-Funks will be performing live.

Saturday's events will kick off with the 23rd Annual Run-A-MUC 5K Race. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the race will start at 9 a.m. The cost of the race is $12 if paid in advance and $15 the day of the race. The fee for Mount Union students is $5. Each pre-registrant will receive an all-you-can-eat lunch and a long-sleeved t-shirt.

A special Kids' Race is open to all children ages 7 and younger. The race will begin immediately following the conclusion of the 5K and consists of one lap around Mount Union's track. Each participant will win a prize.

The National Cabinet of Mount Union Women will meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Alumni Room of the Hoover-Price Campus Center and guests will have an opportunity to view Mount Union's newly-renovated dining commons during the Pre-Football Game Brunch at 10:30 .m. in the Hoover-Price Campus Center. Tickets ' available at the door ' are $6 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Advance reservations are not necessary.

Step-off for the annual Homecoming Parade will begin at 11 a.m. from the Bica-Ross Hall parking lot. A Carnival in the Quad will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., offering numerous activities for children including face painting, a clown and a DJ. The public is welcome to attend.

Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Phi Kappa Tau fraternity will both hold pre-game gatherings for members and alumni and their families beginning at 11 a.m. Alpha Delta Pi's event will be at 724 Hartshorn St. The Phi Kappa Tau gathering will be held in the parking lot of the Gulling Training Center. Food will be provided at both events.

This year's Homecoming football game will take place at 1:30 p.m., with the Mount Union Purple Raiders taking on the Capital Crusaders. An Alumni Association tent will be stationed near the Mount Union Stadium, where spirit items and balloons will be distributed.

Young alumni are invited to attend the Young Alumni Reception after the game at Buffalo Wild Wings in Alliance where reunions for the classes of 1986, 1991, 1996 and 2001 will be celebrated. The reception will begin at 3 p.m.

A Post-Football Game Reception will be held on the patio of the Hoover-Price Campus Center's Campus Grounds immediately following the game.
