Homeless Man to Speak at Alliance Church
October 14, 2010
Matthew Works, an artist, writer and activist, will be speaking at Union Avenue United Methodist Church on Monday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.
His message on Monday will focus on the issue of homelessness and why the churches need to stay open for the homeless. Works speaks regularly about homelessness and its connection to the gospel.
Aside from speaking at Union Avenue United Methodist Church, he will be speaking in a number of classes at Mount Union, meeting with students and student organizations and showcasing his artwork during the week of October 18. “Nowhere to Lay His Head,” Works’ art installation, also will be on display in Dewald Chapel on Mount Union’s campus.
The lecture is being co-sponsored by Union Avenue United Methodist Church and the University of Mount Union. The event is free and open to the public. For more information about Works, visit www.openchurches.org.
