April 08, 2010
The John T. Huston-Dr. John D. Brumbaugh Nature Center will offer volunteer trail guide training on Tuesday, March 25 from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.
John T. Huston Barn at the Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center
We're looking for you! Would you like to share your love of nature with children, but are not sure how? The Nature Center can help you develop your skills so that you will feel comfortable as a trail guide. During the training we will discuss some of the elements of outdoor education and take a sample walk. Following lunch, (please bring your own) you will have a chance to use the learned skills by teaching one another. After you've completed our introductory workshop you will have the opportunity to observe some of our outdoor trail programs. The Nature Center offers to groups ranging in age from preschoolers to senior citizens. When you feel comfortable, you can "graduate" to leading your own group and participate as often as your schedule permits.
The workshop is open to high school students through adults. Registration is required. Call the Nature Center at (330) 823-7487 for more details. The Nature Center is located 6 miles south of Mount Union College on Daniel Street, just off Rt. 183.
