Teaching Area(s): Political Science

First, I aim to create an environment to foster an appreciation for independent and out-of-the-box thinking. I constantly challenge students to engage in frank exchanges of ideas, and debate and critically evaluate different viewpoints.

“As a 2009 graduate of the program at the University of Mount Union, I was given the tools to navigate the rapidly developing political landscape of international policy. My professors were not only educators, but colleagues as I transformed from student to scholar. The program affords students with knowledge of all aspects and perspectives of conflict, strategy, and policy - an invaluable skill in an ever-evolving international system.”

“My time at Mount Union during the early 1960s helped to instill in me values of rigorous scholarship and personal development that I’ve carried with me throughout my career. It’s where my commitment to social justice really began and took root. The College’s commitment to ensuring the individual growth of its students helped me to broaden my own world view and deepen my determination to work to promote human rights.”

“The program in international studies has truly opened doors to the world for me. The courses I have taken have helped me develop valuable critical thinking skills and advanced my knowledge of socio-political dynamics that influence international interactions. I feel I have obtained a solid educational foundation that will allow me to successfully access current and future issues arising within the world arena.”
