Intervention Specialist Major and Minor Requirements

Requirements for the Major in Intervention Specialist

The requirements listed below reflect Mount Union’s new curriculum for the 2012-2013 Academic Year.  For information regarding major or minor requirements for current students, please refer to the University Catalogue of your entering year.

Required Courses

  • Introduction to Teaching Professions-Early Childhood and Intervention Specialist
  • Development and Characteristics of Typical and Atypical Learners
  • Intervention Specialist Curriculum and Instruction
  • Intervention Specialist Methods
  • Applied Behavioral Analysis for Teachers
  • Intervention Spec Preclinical Practice: Professionalism, Practices, Research, and Collaboration Practices
  • Intervention Specialist Assessment and Literacy Practices*
  • Early Childhood Mathematics Practices and Curriculum
  • Early Childhood Language Arts Practices and Curriculum*

*12 hour reading requirement through Ohio Department of Education

Additional coursework is necessary for licensure.
