Jan Carli to Discuss "Buddhism in 21st Century"

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Jan Carli, a retired Alliance school counselor, will focus on "Buddhism in 21st Century" when she speaks at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 28 at the Continued Learning Program in the East Room of the University of Mount Union’s Hoover-Price Campus Center.
Carli, who now lives in Cleveland, began practicing and studying Zen meditation in 2000, was ordained as a Shramanera (novice monk) in 2004 and took the 250 Vows of the Fully Ordained in 2009.
Her Dharma name is Ven. Shih Zhong-Xin. Zhong-Xin means Faithful Mind in Chinese. She led Peaceful Lotus Sangha (meditation group) at Northeast Reintegration Center, a women’s correctional facility in Cleveland, for four years.
Carli has led Golden Wisdom Sangha in Canton for six years. She is a frequent lecturer at CloudWater Zendo in Cleveland.
Zhong-Xin worked as a school counselor for Alliance City Schools for 32 years.
