Joe Mazzola kicks-off the Continued Learning Program at the University of Mount Union on February 7

ALLIANCE, OH – On Tuesday, February 7, in the Alumni Room of the Hoover-Price Campus Center at the University of Mount Union will host its annual Continued Learning Program with guest speaker Joe Mazzola, Planning and Development Director, discussing the attraction of businesses in the area and the Block Grant Program.

The Planning and Development Department looks to assist the City of Alliance with economic and community development. The economic development assists where they can with Alliance companies in meeting their growth or relocation needs. The community development looks to assist the Alliance companies through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The CDBG looks to fund city programs that are funded include the Housing Rehabilitation and Code Enforcement.

Mazzola received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Norte Dame and received his Master of Business Administration from Kent State University. Mazzola has been working in the development and planning field since 1988. Mazzola was the executive director of Friends of Shaker Square, Flats Oxbow Association and most recently worked for the City of East Cleveland. During his time at the City of East Cleveland, Mazzola was responsible for nearly $10 million of federal entitlement funds.
