John Myers Hired as Mount Union Entrepreneur in Residence

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Area businessperson John Myers was recently hired to serve as Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Mount Union.
In this role, Myers will work to promote entrepreneurship as a career choice for students. Myers will address classes at Mount Union and will provide counseling, mentorship and networking opportunities to students, faculty and staff at the University.
“Many graduates are going to work in the business sector and some will decide they want to start their own company,” Myers said. “I want to help them understand that they can have fulfilling and rewarding careers doing things they love to do."
Myers, of Tallmadge, Ohio, previously worked for the University of Akron Research Foundation, where he served as president for the Akron Innovation Campus (AIC), executive-in-residence (UARF) and director of University Innovation Ventures (UIV), secretary of Akron Device Technologies (ADT) and vice president of the Northeast Ohio Student Venture Fund (NEOSVF). In addition, Myers worked as entrepreneurship outreach specialist at the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce.
Myers is co-founder of the Akron Regional Change Angels Investment Network and co-owner and co-founder of ROOBREW, LLC, a start-up beer brewing company.

In addition to this part-time role at the University, Myers will serve as executive director of the Technology Accelerator Alliance (TA2) business incubator. TA2 is collaboration amongst the City of Alliance, the University of Mount Union and the Alliance Area Development Foundation (AADF). In the future, TA2 plans to expand to focus not only on technology-related business but also on any commercially viable ideas that need assistance to be brought to the market.
Myers is married to Kathy and the couple has three children – Erin ’05, Brett and Kelly. His hobbies include brewing beer, winemaking and running.
