Join Nature Center for Solstice Celebration
April 09, 2010
The John T. Huston - Dr. John D. Brumbaugh Nature Center will hold a 'Solstice Celebration' on Tuesday, December 21 from 6 - 8 p.m.
Come join us while the sun stands still. (That is where we get the word solstice). At 7:42 on the morning of December 21, the sun will reach its furthest point south of the celestial equator, and it will then be heading back toward us. Since we are mostly daytime creatures we may think of this as the shortest day of the year, but night creatures are enjoying their longest night. Let's join them as we investigate some old time solstice traditions and see what we can do to usher in the new solar year. Don't forget to dress for the weather.
Registration is required. The Nature Center is located 6 miles south of Mount Union College on Daniel Street, just off Route 183. For more information, contact the Nature Center at (330) 823-7487.
