MY EXCEPTIONAL STORY

Mount Union
I’ve always known Mount Union to have an excellent football program, but after seeing a billboard in my hometown with a success story of a former Mount student, I decided to do further research on the school.

Why Mount Union
After visiting other college campuses, I was beginning to lose hope that I would find the right college for me. From the moment I stepped on Mount Union’s campus I felt right at home. Everyone was so friendly and helpful; I just knew it was where I wanted to spend the next four years of my life.

Faculty Involvement
It’s very difficult to choose what I like the most! I’d have to say I am most impressed with how each faculty member is genuinely concerned with my success. No matter the class, every professor is readily available to do everything in his or her power to help their students succeed.

Favorite Place on Campus
My favorite place on campus is the MAAC. It’s very important to maintain a healthy lifestyle with at college and having such a beautiful facility on campus makes it easy!

Home Away From Home
Mount Union is not just a university, it’s one big family. The “home away from home” atmosphere combined with academic excellence sets Mount Union apart from any other college or university.

Networking Opportunities
I have had many opportunities to network with professionals in my field through various job fairs and other activities. Also, the classes I’ve taken have prepared me for job interviews and helped to perfect my resume.

Accounting
I chose accounting because I love working with numbers. Math has always been my favorite subject and I’ve been budgeting my money since I was a pre-teen…it seemed like a good fit.

Internship
I currently have an internship with the City of Youngstown in the Finance/Accounting Department. I have been working on audits as well as reconciliations. The experience is extremely beneficial because I am able to combine my classroom knowledge with hands-on projects to prepare myself for employment after graduation.

Favorite Class
My favorite class so far has been Intermediate Accounting II. It was the most difficult class I’ve had at Mount Union, however, it pushed me to study more, to approach situations with an analytical perspective, and become an all-around better accounting student.

Favorite Professor
Professor Pogacnik is my absolute favorite professor. Every class I’ve had with her has been an amazing experience. She teaches accounting so clearly and makes even the hardest of concepts easy to understand. She is always there to offer advice or words of encouragement and does everything in her power to help her students succeed.

Liberal Arts Benefit
I believe having a liberal arts degree equipped with vast knowledge in many important areas as well as extensive professional preparation will make me a better candidate for employment after graduation.

Career Goal
My ultimate career goal is to be a forensic accountant for the federal government. After graduation, I plan on obtaining my Master’s in Forensic Accounting. From there, my goal is to move to Washington, D.C. and work for the FBI.

To The Top!
