I love how invested all the professors are in the success of students. No matter how much my professors have going on, they will always help me with anything from homework to helping me achieve my career goals.

MY EXCEPTIONAL STORY
One of A Kind
A student from my high school came to Mount Union the year before I graduated and told me how wonderful it was. When I visited Mount Union for the first time I fell in love with the campus and how much school spirit everyone had! I also loved the small community feel and how easy and encouraged it was to be involved on campus. The professors seemed truly invested in the students and their success not only at Mount Union, but also after graduation. I knew I couldn’t find a school like that anywhere else.
More Than a Number
I love how invested all the professors are in the success of students. No matter how much my professors have going on, they will always help me with anything from homework to helping me achieve my career goals. I am not just a number or another enrolled student to my professors … I’m Katlin Gainer. Not to mention, success after college is guaranteed because of the awesome name that precedes Mount Union students.
Business has always intrigued me, but I’m more of a creative person than the type who sits in a cubicle, so marketing was a perfect fit. After my first two years of French, I fell in love with learning the language and culture. Then, after studying abroad in Southern France, I knew I wanted to pursue a major in French.
As a marketing major I have had the opportunity to work with many real world companies such as LifeBank, A.J. Oyster and local play writers and then present a marketing plan to those businesses. This type of experience is invaluable. The marketing professors do an amazing job ensuring that we get real world experience that we can discuss during interviews as well as further develop our skills that can be used in our future careers.
Internship to Full-Time Job
This past summer I interned with Target as an executive team leader and it turned into a full-time position after graduation! Beginning in May, I’ll be located in the Akron/Canton area.
My favorite class would have to be Introduction to Marketing because it really opened my eyes to the future and showed me where I wanted to go in life.
My favorite place at Mount Union is Mount Union Stadium. No matter what sporting event or activity is going on inside, you can bet that everyone will be showing their pride for Mount Union and I think that’s awesome. The Stadium also represents the active culture of Mount Union students extremely well, which I love.
Michael Kachilla, assistant professor of management, is my favorite professor. He is truly invested in each student, and helped me tremendously throughout my college career. Even during the summer months he would correspond with me through email and assist me with my internship at Target. Professor Kachilla is very disciplined. He also is an accomplished man who applies real world examples to his teaching and has shown all students that hard work and determination pay off!
