I think that, most importantly, before committing to the major you must be sure that you can be a good role model for others in teaching about health and physical education. You may be able to learn all of the material, but you will be useless as a teacher unless you can get your students to follow you in adopting healthy lifestyle choices

Why did you choose to pursue your degree?
I am pursuing a career that I know I will enjoy for the rest of my life as well as apply to other areas of my family’s lives as well as my own. More specifically, I choose to pursue these degrees because I love physical activity and really dislike being sick or immobile.

What types of jobs are available for students who share your major?
There are all sorts of jobs available that promote individual and community health. Along with teaching jobs at schools and colleges, there are jobs available in community and public health organizations, workplace settings and healthcare organizations.

How will you use your degree upon graduation?
I plan on teaching both health and physical education at least at the high school level while also coaching wrestling. I am also considering furthering my education and/or teaching and coaching at the college level. I look forward to coaching wrestling and developing student athletes who prove to be successful, disciplined and of good character.

What activities are you involved in?
I am in my freshman year of eligibility on the Mount Union Purple Raider Wrestling Team and I am in Alpha Lambda Delta.

What elements should a person possess in order to succeed in your major?

To pursue these majors a person should, above all things, have patience and a will to help others. Teaching in areas such as health and physical education should be looked upon as an opportunity to influence and improve the quality of another’s life.
