Kindermusik Now Registering for Spring Session
December 04, 2012
ALLIANCE, Ohio — Kindermusik, a music and movement program for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and young children, is now registering for spring classes at the University of Mount Union.
The focus of the research community is increasingly turning to music as a vehicle to deliver a learning experience to children. Early, positive and age-appropriate experiences with music, such as a Kindermusik program, can have an impact on a child’s language and literacy skills, social and emotional development, mathematics and pattern-recognition skills, ability to plan, guide and self-regulate behavior and overall music and vocal development.
The Kindermusik program is offered by Deborah Garren, music specialist and Kindermusik educator.
Moms, dads, caregivers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends and kids are encouraged to be involved in classes.
Classes, open to children ages birth to seven years, will begin on January 14. Class times are as follows:
- 9:30 a.m., Village (birth – 18 months), Presser Recital Hall
- 10:30 a.m., Our Time (18 months – three years), Presser Recital Hall
- 5:30 p.m., Imagine That (3–5 years), Room 114, Cope Music Hall
- 6:30 p.m., Young Child (5–7 years), Room 114, Cope Music Hall
Cost is $275 per child for a 15-week session and includes supplies. Classes are 45 minutes in length. Up to 15 reservations per class session will be accepted.
