Laura Clunk and Sam Ranallo Named Greek Woman and Man of the Year

Seniors Laura Clunk of Alliance and Sam Ranallo of Solon were named Greek Woman and Man of the Year at Mount Union College's annual Greek Awards Ceremony, held April 12 in the Mount Union Theatre.
Clunk, a senior biology major from Alliance, is a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority where she has served as president. She has been a member of Sophomore Service and Student Senate and has also appeared on the Dean's List.
Ranallo, a senior middle childhood education major from Solon, is a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity where he has served as president. Ranallo has also served as a Preview and Orientation Guide.
Greek Woman and Man of the Year awards are presented to graduating seniors based on their outstanding and continued service to Mount Union, the Greek community and their Greek organizations. They excel in academics, leadership, campus and community participation and personal character.
Both the Alpha Chi Omega and Alpha Delta Pi sororities received a Chapter Excellence Silver Award and Alpha Xi Delta received a Chapter Excellence Bronze Award. Chapter Excellence Awards are given to those chapters who meet or exceed specific qualifications during the year for which the award is presented.
Marian (Hoke '65) Knipfer, advisor of Alpha Xi Delta, was honored with the Advisor of the Year Award and Dr. Mark Himmelein, associate professor of foreign language, was recognized as the outstanding faculty/staff member. Himmelein is the faculty advisor for the Sigma Nu fraternity.
Students earning the Fraternal Values Award for exceptional demonstration of the principles and ideals upon which their organizations were founded included Sigma Nu member Chris Price, a senior biology major from Salem, and Alpha Xi Delta member Emily Creamer, a senior psychology and sociology major from Alliance.
The Campus and Community Service Award was presented to Alpha Chi Omega and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. This award recognizes those chapters that have provided exemplary service for the campus and surrounding community.
Alpha Delta Pi and Sigma Alpha Epsilon were honored with the Campus Leadership and Involvement Award, recognizing those chapters best exemplifying the practice of being involved in the Mount Union community.
In recognition of their comprehensive programming for total membership development within their own chapters and the greater Greek community, Alpha Delta Pi was honored with the Chapter Programming Award.
The Recruitment Excellence Award was presented to Alpha Delta Pi and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. This award recognizes the chapters implementing creative methods to engage in effective and purposeful recruitment throughout the academic year. Alpha Chi Omega was honored for New Member Education.
Alpha Delta Pi was recognized with the Risk Management Award, presented to the chapters that engage in superior efforts and education to regularly assess, understand and reduce their risks as chapters.
Alpha Delta Pi and Sigma Alpha Epsilon were presented the Highest Chapter GPA Award for the spring and Alpha Xi Delta and Alpha Tau Omega for the fall. Alpha Xi Delta and Alpha Tau Omega received the Most Improved Chapter GPA Award. Alpha Chi Omega and Sigma Alpha Epsilon were recognized with the Highest New Member Class GPA Award for the spring and Alpha Xi Delta and Sigma Nu were recognized for the fall.
