Fourth grade teacher

This program provides the flexibility for a full-time working parent, while allowing the rigor and support needed to grow as a professional.

Hometown

Lousiville, Ohio

I am in my thirteenth year in education. I currently teach fourth grade English Language Arts at Plain Local Schools. In addition to teaching, I am the co-founder and co-director with Jessy Tsoufiou of Fierce Females. Fierce Females is a female empowerment group offered to fourth graders in our district. We encourage our girls to dream big while encouraging each other on their way to reaching their own goals.

Why Mount Union's M.Ed.?

Mount Union offered a program that would grow me as an instructional leader. The program delivery was conducive to the demands of my schedule as a busy professional and mother to two amazing kids. Mount Union offers a personalized approach and took the time to talk with me to answer any questions I had before I started the program. They were willing to work with me to make the program work for me.

Internship Impact

Fierce Females, which was my internship project, has created a culture of empowerment and positivity. Our girls have completed service projects that have given a greater purpose. We have been able to provide our girls with experiences and inspirations from professional women from across the country. Our girls demonstrate our mission of learn, lead, and love through daily acts of kindness.

Personal Attention and Flexibility

The professors and leadership skills provided throughout the program are invaluable moving forward in any leadership position. The support and real-life experiences have developed my skills as a leader. This program provides the flexibility for a full-time working parent, while allowing the rigor and support needed to grow as a professional.

Career Goal

My ultimate goal is to be an instructional leader that inspires other educators to teach with passion, positivity, and purpose.
